Version 1.00
--------------
1. INTRODUCTION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever used Program Manager's File-Run command? Have you ever
been aggravated when you have to retype the program name every time
you want to rerun a program? If so, then File Runner is for you. File
Runner keeps a history list of 15 programs that have been previously run.
You can simply double-click on the program name that you want to rerun!
2. INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The file FRUNNER.EXE should be stored in a directory in your path. The
Windows directory is recommended. File Runner can be used either as
a replacement for Windows Task Manager or as a stand alone program
that you can run from Program Manager.
To Replace Task Manager
-----------------------
1) Edit SYSTEM.INI located in your Windows directory with a text
editor.
2) Under the section labeled [boot] add the following line
TASKMAN.EXE=FRUNNER.EXE
3) Save the changes to SYSTEM.INI
4) Exit Windows and then restart Windows
5) Press Ctrl+Esc to bring up File Runner
To Run As A StandAlone Application
----------------------------------
1) Find a Group inside of Program Manager where you want the icon to
reside and select that group.
2) Select File-New from the Program Manager menu and then select
"Program Item" in the dialog box.
3) Fill in the information in the "Program Item Properties" dialog.
I recommend that you fill in the "Shortcut Key" section with
Ctrl+Alt+R. This will allow you to bring File Runner up quickly when
Program Manager is active. For instance, instead of pressing Alt+F R
to bring up the File-Run dialog in Program Manager, you can press
Ctrl+Alt+R to bring up File Runner.
4) You have now added File Runner to a group inside of Program Manager.
5) Double-click on the File Runner icon (it looks like a person who is
running) to bring up File Runner.
3. FEATURES IN FILE RUNNER 1.00
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Launch a program from the command line.
- Search for a file to run with a browse dialog.
- Up to 15 commands can remain in the command line history list box
- All the features supported by Task Manager are available via a
push button.
4. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
File Runner is supported under Windows 3.1 only.
5. HOW FILE RUNNER 1.00 WORKS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
File Runner puts a small file "frunner.dat" in your Windows directory to
store information between Windows sessions. File Runner NEVER changes
your win.ini or system.ini files. If you ever want to delete the
history list, simply erase frunner.dat from your Windows directory.
